Sharon was pleased to attend the City of Sunderland College Dinner to meet with representatives of the College.  They discussed the prospects for Further Education in the city and the courses provided by the College that help people of every age gain better qualifications.  The College recently came second in the region following the National Student Survey 2008, proving the quality of the education offered and the positive reaction of students.

Sharon said,

“I greatly respect the work that is being done in the city.  The College are so important in promoting Further Education and helping people to get ahead.  We need to give everyone an equal right to education, and I think that they are doing a fantastic job in Sunderland.  I know that many people have had their horizons widened because they have been given new opportunities and have been encouraged by the staff of the college.  This dinner was a celebration of their achievements and an encouragement to staff that the excellent work should continue.”
