As part of the launch of Channel 4's new series of Born To Be Different, which follows the lives of children with disabilities and their families, Sharon took part in a panel debate on the government's SEN Green Paper alongside (L-R) Roger Legate, Principle of Linden Lodge School and VI Service, Ian Birrell, Journalist, Philippa Stobbs, Assistant Director at the Council for Disabled Children, and Paula Davis, the parent of one of the children featured in the programme.

Sharon highlighted her personal experience of the need for the system of identification and support to work better for children and families, but also raised concerns held by many in the sector that current budget cuts are hurting services before a new regime can even be put in place, and worries that the government favours segregation of pupils with learning difficulties from mainstream schools.

The full debate, including questions and answers from the large audience, can be viewed on the 4Talks website.
