Sharon, along her Sunderland colleague Julie Elliott MP met with the chairman and secretary of the Sunderland Sikh Association in order to hear concerns about new legislation which requires their turbans to be searched at airport security.

Sharon and Julie were concerned at this seeming lack of respect for practicing Sikhs, and have written to the Home Secretary on their behalf to protest against the new legislation.
