Sharon cutting the ribbon at Children's Society shop

Local MP Sharon Hodgson cut the ribbon at the re-opening of the refurbished Children’s Society shop in Concord, Washington last Tuesday (16 February). The new look means that the shop is a brighter more inviting place for customers and staff alike.

Sharon said “I am delighted to be able to support the Children’s Society and re-open their fantastic new shop for them. The Children’s Society does a lot of very good work, and so I was only too happy to be here today, and maybe even pick up a bargain or two!”

Local residents are being encouraged to bring along their unwanted items, as well as volunteer if they want to lend a hand. The Washington shop originally opened its doors in 1987, making this year its 23rd year. The Children’s Society aims to prevent, rescue and support children who are in danger of harm, and was founded in 1881 by churchman Edward Rudolf.
