MP tells Des to Bogof!
Tyne and Wear MP Sharon Hodgson has praised publicans in her constituency who have signed up to a festive buy one get one free offer on Coca Cola soft drinks until 2nd January 2010. The scheme is to promote the importance of having a designated driver during a seasonal trip to the pub. Drink driving increases over the Christmas period and police are known to clampdown hard on traffic offences which is why Coke have drafted in Perry McCarthy, the Original Stig from BBC 1’s Top Gear to get the safe drinking campaign on the road.
Sharon Hodgson MP said:
“The festive season is a great time to catch up with friends and family and that is why our pubs are often busier during this period. There is plenty of fun to be had out and about across my constituency but I wanted to let drivers know they can save a few pounds by taking up this offer which hopefully will help prevent any temptation when they get to the bar. I’m sure there will be plenty of ‘ones for the road’ over the next few weeks but for those getting behind the wheel Coke’s campaign is a timely one.”
