Sharon hosted the National Prayer Breakfast 2011 in Westminster Hall on June 21st.
The event had been organised by Sharon and a small team of helpers over the preceding two years, and brought together MPs, Peers, diplomats, Bishops, Christian leaders and followers to join in collective worship and hear about work being done
The event was deemed a huge success.

As Chair, Sharon chose the theme to be ‘raising young peoples' aspirations'. The theme is something which Sharon is very passionate about - particularly from her lifelong connection with the North East.
Sharon recognised that many young people in the area feel disconnected from opportunity and prospects for their future, and as a result lower their aspirations to ‘realistic' options. Sharon was keen to show that no matter what background a young person is from, they can achieve their aspiration.
One way Sharon presented this theme to the breakfast was a short film she recorded with a Year 5 and Year 6 class from South Hylton Primary School. She asked the children what they wanted to be when they grew up - all offered high professions as answers. This clip showed the guests at the breakfast that if you can believe in yourself at 10 to be an astronaut - why not when you are 16?
The clip was warmly received by the guests, who were inspired by the children's aspirations.
