On Wednesday Sharon attended a meeting between MPs in the North East and the Chancellor Alistair Darling to talk about Northern Rock. The events surrounding the bank in the past couple of years have had a huge impact on the company and those who work for it in Newcastle – having worked there herself this is an area of particular concern to Sharon. Sharon was reassured to hear of the measures the Government is taking to safeguard jobs, and the company will be back in private ownership as soon as the time is right.
