Friday saw the BBC host an evening for Sport Relief and the Barclay’s call centre in Sunderland was chosen to take the public’s calls and collect donations. Hundreds of staff volunteered their own time to help raise millions of pounds for good causes. Sharon wanted to say thanks to all the volunteers and dropped by top join them whilst they took donations from supporters.
Sharon said "Sport Relief have done a great job in motivating people all over the country to get active and get involved with fundraising for an incredibly good cause. Knowing how hard the team were working behind the scenes at Barclays made the moments in the evening - where the running total was unveiled - all the more interesting, and meeting so many of the team involved in taking the calls. All of the people there had volunteered - most after a full days work already - so it meant some would spend over 12 hours on the phone. Therefore a big well-done to everybody is very definitely deserved."
