A General Election has been called for Thursday 12th December. This election is a once-in-a-generation chance to transform our country and take on the vested interests holding people back.
The North East has suffered as a result of austerity cuts that the Conservative and Liberal Democrat Coalition and Conservative Governments have imposed over the last nine years.
Only Labour will invest in our region. Labour will improve jobs, health and the economy, reducing poverty and health inequalities that have raged on for far too long. By voting for Sharon, you’ll be voting for real change.

Sharon’s General Election pledges are:
• Continue to be a Local Champion:
from opposing the closure of NHS Urgent Care Centres in our constituency; to campaigning against the gasification plant in Washington, Sharon has consistently stood up for our local community and will continue to do so.
• Invest in our NHS:
so that you and your family can get the best possible care. Labour will almost double the number of GP trainees, creating 27 million extra GP appointments each year.
• Fix our broken housing system:
by building more homes and ensuring every property is safe to live in. Labour will end the growing reliance on the private-rented sector, tackle homelessness and leaseholds.
• Get Brexit sorted:
Labour will negotiate a better leave deal, and give people the final say.
• Invest in our children’s futures:
by introducing a National Education Service. Labour will stop the cuts to school budgets with a real-terms increase in funding and reopen closed Sure Start Centres.
• Protect our environment:
by delivering a Green Industrial Revolution. Labour will invest to make Britain a world leader in green technologies such as tidal power and electric vehicles.
