Sharon went along to visit the inaugural Washington Heritage Festival.
The event, held at Albany Park in Concord, Washington - which was a resounding success! - is the culmination of the hard work put in by local heritage enthusiasts, historians, local Councillors and Sunderland City Council.
Everybody there was clearly having a very good time, helped no less by the glorious weather.
Also on show was a model of a planned Washington Miner's Family, which Local Councillors and campaigners are raising money for a life-size statue to be built in Concord, Washington, Tyne & Wear.
The family-fun-day event provided the opportunity for all to learn more about the history of Washington. There was live music, performances, traditional crafts displays such as woodturning and quilting, games, a tug of war competition, children's rides, exhibitions of classic cars, military vehicles and historical re-enactment societies.
Sharon said: "I was completely bowled over by the professionalism and turnout for the event - right in our own patch. We in the North East know that Washington and Sunderland do have a rich heritage and this event proves that. I hope that this can become a regular attraction for many years to come. Well done to all involved."
Just some of the societies and organisations represented were Beamish and Washington Old Hall.
