
Sharon secured a debate in Westminster Hall on the topic of Free School Meals. This has been something Sharon has campaigned on for many years, and she was angered by the new Government’s decision to cancel Labour’s plan to expand Free School Meal provision. In her speech opening the debate she made the case for Universal Free School Meals; a number of excellent contributions were made by other Labour members, but she was disappointed by the response of Tim Loughton, the Children’s Minister, who claimed that it could not be afforded.
