05/02/2022 - Sharon held another one of her now regular public residents' meetings.  This one at the Washington Station Celtic Club, alongside Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Kim McGuiness, and Local Washington Central Councillors Linda Williams and Len Lauchlan.

Local residents raised their concerns to the PCC on traffic measures, cyber crime, antisocial behaviour and other issues.

The tough circumstances for the police force in Washington and across Northumbria having scarce resources, with significantly less officers after 12 years of Tory cuts, were discussed.

Even with promised new recruits, Northumbria still has 600 fewer officers than it had in 2010.

Residents agreed that more funding is needed for the community services that help prevent crime.

Along with her team Sharon will be following up on the issues raised - thanks to all who came and shared views.
