Sharon spoke for Labour in a debate on technical measures required to make equal marriage a reality.
While fully welcoming the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act and the consequential statutory instruments being debated, Sharon posed a series of questions to the Minister, and in particular pressed on the timeframe for further measures to ensure that those couples who had already entered into a Civil Partnership would be able to convert their union to a marriage.
In the end, the 3 statutory instruments were approved, with only 3 Tory backbenchers, who oppose equal marriage, voting against them.
