Sharon spoke to young people and those who work with them at a conference organised by Washington Mind to coincide with #WorldMentalHealthDay.
In her speech, Sharon welcomed progress made towards ensuring that children and young people have quick access to the services they need to help them overcome mental health problems, but warned that, as a country, we're still not getting it right, and a greater focus needs to be placed on mental well-being by both the health service as well as schools.
Sharon is President of Washington Mind, which provides a variety of services to local people coping with mental health difficulties in themselves or family members; more details on their work and the services they offer can be found on their website.
